Part of expressing gratitude for success is giving back to the community that helped get you where you are. At Dyrand, volunteering our gifts is part of saying “thanks” for what we’ve grown.
Every year the Dyrand team volunteers as a group with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank—we make our team and our community stronger by lending our hands and our time to a cause everyone can relate to.
As individuals, many at Dyrand step forward to offer their time and fundraising efforts to the causes that mean the most to them. Here are some of our stories:
Trent
As a founder and CEO, Trent’s greatest passion is entrepreneurship; motivated by this spirit—and having enjoyed the benefits of mentoring relationships himself—Trent has been involved in a number of mentorship programs, most recently through the Vancouver Board of Trade. Trent has participated in the Junior Achievement program, and speaks to students about entrepreneurship whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Trent sponsors two foster children through World Vision. He has volunteered his time to the Food Bank with the Dyrand team and to building houses for low-income families through Habitat for Humanity. Supporting children with disabilities, Trent also contributes to Easter Seals.
Ed (VP Client Care)
In memory of a friend recently lost to breast cancer, Ed has volunteered and fundraised for the Breast Cancer Foundation for the past three years. He walks in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer and has given his time to other events supporting the quest for a cure.
With the Dyrand team, Ed has volunteered his time at the Food Bank. Father to a 16-year-old son, Ed has recently taken on the challenge of being a single-Dad full time.
Amber (Marketing Manager)
Amber has been a volunteer for over 15 years, focusing on the visual arts and social justice.
Amber’s social activism is focused on the cause of HIV/AIDS. She volunteers with the annual Art for AIDS Orphans art auction, which raises money for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, benefiting AIDS orphans in South Africa.
Amber has been a volunteer tutor, event planner, mentor and publicist. She thrives on getting involved, getting her hands dirty and helping out wherever her skills can be used to make a real difference. |
